Production Process

In order to obtain ashwagandha powder, the plant is first harvested and cleaned. It is then chopped, ground and sifted to produce a fine powder. This powder is then steam sterilized, killing any potential remaining microorganisms and ensuring a high quality end product.

The root has a strong smell which is how this plant got its name: In Sanskrit, “ashwa” means horse and “gandha” means smell. This name was also given to the plant because its properties are said to give the user the power and strength of a horse. Ashwagandha is also known as Withania somnifera, Indian ginseng, or winter cherry.
